Good things about the University based on your personal experience

The campus is filled with a lot of opportunities, both academically and extracurricular. There are even language labs, where we can teach ourselves languages if we have not enrolled in any language course.

Also, there is a diverse crowd and so it’s easy to make friends. The majority of the faculty are good at teaching and aiding students in their subjects.

Bad things about the University based on your personal experience

Firstly, like all other colleges, JGU has a massive problem with drugs and other illegal substances on campus. The administration has made many strict rules to ensure the safety of the students, according to a new policy they have sniffer dogs at the main gate.

Secondly, the mess of food tastes someties tastes awful, and so many of the students eat food at the foot court, which is expensive to eat daily.

Thirdly, there were issues relating to drinking water in both the girls’ and boys’ hostels, and so many students got sick. There are also some maintenance issues which the admin is trying to resolve.

How’s the faculty?

The faculty in the college according to me is above average as some will give you a tough time while studying, while most other have teaching methods which allow us to have an interest in a topic.

However, when we have doubts or want help in writing a research paper the faculty are very helpful to the students.

How’s the infrastructure? Mention some of the things that exist.

The infrastructure in JGU is really good as many of the buildings are newly made. Tower 4 (T4) has a Ben-Q screen in its classrooms. There is a huge Cricket and Football Field, and Volleyball and Basketball court. There is also a student common room which has pool tables, chess, etc.

There is also a massive library filled on the 3rd floor. There is also a swimming pool, however, it has not been opened yet, due to pandemic

How’s your hostel experience?

The hostel experience for me is somewhat mixed the rooms are good with beds which have storage spaces. The cupboards have ample space for clothes and other personal belongings.

There is both badminton courts and basketballs court in the Boy’s hostel area. There is a newly opened shop also called “Egg Bite” which gives out good food and snacks. The wardens are very kind, the laundry service is good, as we get back our clothes in 2-3 days.

However, during the first month of the semester, there was a water crisis, in which the water was not filtered properly, and so many students became sick from drinking the water. The admin took some time in resolving the issue.

How are your peers?

The crowd in Jindal is very diverse, and so there are those who are very studious and academically inclined, while there are others who just want to party. You choose who you want to be with since that will determine the outcome after you graduate.

How are the placements in your college?

The placements in JGU are great as many students were placed into top tier firms. However this is solely based on your work ethic and how well you use the opportunities that given to you by the college.

How are the co-curricular activities in your college?

There are many societies in the college like the MCS (Moot Court Society), ADR Society, JIPCEL, and many more societies which specifically focus on either one or more fields of the law.

Each one of these societies gives great exposure and also helps you network with the faculty coordinators who specialize in that particular area of law.

What are some of the things you’d advise a 1st-year aspirant who enters your college?

Don’t stress out too much, the 1st year is when you have the most time, so spend it wisely and with a good crowd. Be good to the faculty, as they can help you out in the future.

Check emails everyday as the college gives out really good opportunities which is overlooked by majority of the students.
