About the College

Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri law college is a government sponsored law college in South Kolkata offering degree courses in Law. It is affiliated with the University of Kolkata. Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri law college provides 5 years BBA-LLB and BBA-LLB (Hons.) and also provides LLM courses.

Good things about the University

First of all, I am a second year student of Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College. My college is a morning college which generally runs from 6 to 11 am. Most of the Professors are really good and experienced but their methods of teaching are old and conventional.

They provide us with detailed lectures and notes for various subjects for our semester exams. My seniors are really helpful and approachable and my classmates are very friendly and helpful.

My college often organizes cultural program sports, moot court competitions, essay writing competitions etc. They also provide many other opportunities to participate in other college events.

We have a library where we can issue books for our entire semester exams. Our college fees is reasonably low, as compared to other colleges under Calcutta University.

Bad things about the University

I experienced some off things about my college which includes the teaching process is old and conventional, as I mentioned above.

So it is  sometimes difficult to cope up with modern teaching processes that help in practical based knowledge rather than theoretical knowledge. We have very limited access to libraries and we don’t have any online research databases .

How’s the faculty?

Most of the Professors are really good and experienced. They have a good knowledge about their respective subjects. The best thing about my college is that the teachers are always willing to help the student and they prefer to talk in Bengali but the teaching mode in English.

How’s the infrastructure ?

Our college building is old and the campus is not very big, but our classrooms are big enough to accommodate more than 100 students. We have auditorium, conference room library and digital library students union office and canteen.

How was your hostel experience?

We don’t have any hostel at our college, so I don’t have any experience regarding hostels.

How are your peers?

My peers are good and helpful. They are always ready to guide me whenever I approach them.

How is the placement in your college?

We don’t have any placement cell in our college, we don’t get any placement in our college so those who are going to join corporate it is difficult for them to find proper guidance and placement.

How are co–curricular activities in your college?

Our college provides the opportunities to participate in many national and international level moot competitions, debates, webinars and events.

This law school experience is a part of our experience series wherein our campus leaders share their experiences of their college. Stay tuned for more!
