Law School Experience: MERI Professional and Law Institute, Delhi NCR: Supportive Faculty, Amazing Co-Curricular Activities

This Law School Experience has been shared by Deepti, Campus Leader at Lawctopus.

I took admission in this college in the year 2022 joining the course BA LLB. I am at the verge of starting my 3rd academic year and my journey in my law school was nothing short of a roller-coaster, from highs to lows my experience was quite noteworthy.

My college MERI Professional and Law Institute is affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University and is situated in Bahadurgarh (Delhi NCR), surrounded by a very big green campus.

What are some good things about your college?

The best thing about my college is that you can actually grow personally as well and not only academically. Most of the teachers actually provide useful guidance and tips to excel in our law subjects, and you have wider scope to score better and have professional growth along with it.

It also has various societies related to the legal field which actually provides more opportunities to students to have proficiency in specific skills with their overall development. Not only academics, our college also focuses on other co-curricular activities like cultural activities and sport events.

Are there any bad things about your college?

Overall, my college is good but it needs development in some fields like infrastructure and management. Infrastructure is fine and is developing slowly but still needs more attention. Also, the management needs to be taken care of for better facilities for the students.

How has your experience in college been till now?

My experience is actually better than what I expected, things are getting even better since the time I took admission. I have seen many changes in myself personally, because participating in moot court competitions seriously helped in polishing my oratory and researching skills.

Students experience different types of competitions along with seminars every semester which help in making connections and have development in professional terms. Our teachers offer deep analysis of subjects of law and to master them.

How’s the faculty at your college?

The faculty is really supportive, they not only give us advice related to academics but help us gain real life practical knowledge as well. Our faculty not only provides valuable knowledge but gives personal advice also. But there are two sides of a coin, most of the faculty is best but still few teachers lack proper communication with the students.

How’s the infrastructure at your college?

The infrastructure is huge and is very green, various types of flowers, plants and trees are also there. But because of being so large and being present from many decades, the infrastructure is developing and still needs a lot of development. Overall, the infrastructure is nice and there are actually a lot of things to explore for new students.

How are your peers?

Our peers are a mixture of different types of people with different personalities. But in short, our peers are competitive along with being supportive which is actually good to have valuable gains and experiences. Each and every student has their own cultural background promoting us to know about them in detail.

How are placements at your college?

Especially for internships, our college offers to make contact with many senior advocates from the Supreme Court and High Court along with many big law firms. However, where you are placed totally depends on how good your skills are and how you present yourself.

But our faculty can provide contacts of high profile advocates and firms.

How are the co-curricular activities at your college?

Our college is best known for its co-curricular activities, there’s a new type of competition every semester allowing students to experience competition in a diversified way. Best administration is in moot court with its mock trials, intra competitions and preparing students for national competitions.

Teams from our college participate in competitions in different states all over India. Not only activities related to law but it also gives importance to activities like sports and cultural activities.

What would you advice to 1st year students?

I would advise them to have patience as it might look chaotic at first but things will fall into the right places with time. Don’t rush with your academics and don’t procrastinate, pre plan everything and start preparing from the very start.

The faculty is very supportive and you should have good relations with them from the beginning.

You will have many chances to create a lot of memories. You just need to cherish every moment whether be at competitions or engage in the regular fests. College life is all about how you live it and what memories you want to keep with yourself.

This law school experience is a part of our experience series wherein our campus leaders share their experiences of their college. Stay tuned for more!
