Senior Advocate P Wilson, appearing for the petitioner, clarified that the petitions were withdrawn because the Supreme Court was already seized of the matter pertaining to the expeditious completion of local body polls in Puducherry, pending since 2011.
The Bench then pointed out that the matter pending before it only pertains to the issue of contempt in delimitation and issuance of notification of the polls, and not that of reservation that should have been decided by the Madras High Court.
