The prayer was sought in light of the withdrawal of the pre-matric scholarship scheme for minorities.
The petitioner pointed out that the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, Telangana, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry and Ladakh have not implemented the said proviso.
Khurshid said that the onus to ensure that private schools are following the mandate of the Act lies with State/ Union Territory.
