Two lawyers move Supreme Court against probe for allegedly forging vakalatnama

On April 8, Justice Sathar had directed that a complaint be lodged against the two advocates, Sandipkumar M Patel and Viral J Vyas, while hearing a case concerning the release of a vehicle seized under the Gujarat Prohibition Act.

The litigant in that case alleged that he had never engaged the two lawyers.

The High Court then called for a probe to be initiated into the matter, which was to be conducted by an officer not below the rank of the court’s Deputy Registrar.

This directive has now been challenged by the two lawyers, who have also urged the Supreme Court to stay the High Court order as interim relief.
