Virtual Policy Brief Competition 2024 on Urban Restoration by St. Joseph’s College of Law [Cash Prizes of Rs. 17k]: Register by June 7

Registrations are open for Virtual Policy Brief Competition 2024 on Urban Restoration by St. Joseph’s College of Law. The last date of registration is June 7.

About the college

St. Joseph’s College of Law is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI), New Delhi and affiliated to Karnataka State Law University, Hubli. The institution has forayed into the area of imparting legal education in the academic year 2017-2018. It is the first-ever Jesuit Law College in South Asia.

The Environmental Law and Climate Justice Committee of St. Joseph’s College of Law seeks to bring about change by actively engaging the students to address concerns relating to environment and climate change. In light of this World Environment Day, the committee encourages students across all disciplines to set forth a policy which suggests development regarding urban restoration. 

About the policy brief competition

The rapid urbanization in India, alongside the pressing challenges of ecological degradation and climate change, calls for innovative and effective policy solutions. To tackle the issues, we are excited to announce a Policy Brief Competition focusing on Urban Restoration.

This competition aims to engage policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and students in crafting comprehensive and actionable policy briefs that address the unique challenges and opportunities of urban restoration in India.

Eligibility

Participants must be college students at present (no PG/ UG restrictions) belonging to any discipline. Students may participate individually or as teams with a maximum of 3 members.

Mode 

Online 

Format

The event shall have two rounds:

  • Written Round: Submission of policy brief based on the ‘Problem Statement’.
  • Interactive Round: Presentation of the policy brief by the top 10 selected teams before the panel of judges, followed by a Q&A session.

Interested students are requested to fill out the google form through the link given at the end of the post.

No registration fee.

Prize

Authors of the winning entries will receive cash prizes

  • 1st Place Cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-
  • 2nd Place Cash prize of Rs. 7,000/-
  • The top 5 teams will also get an annual digital subscription of ‘Down to Earth’ magazine (one subscription per team).

Important dates

  • Registration for the Competition ends on 7th June 2024.
  • Last date for the submission of the policy brief is 9th June 2024 08:00 pm.
  • Oral Rounds to be conducted on 15th June 2024.
