Tharoor and Chadrasekhar were locked in an intense battle in the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency which saw the Congress leader defeat Chandrasekhar by a little over 16,000 votes.
Chandrasekhar has sued Tharoor over the allegations made by Tharoor on a Malayalam news channel ’24 News’ during the Lok Sabha elections.
According to a legal notice sent by Chandrasekhar, Tharoor had alleged that Chandrsekhar indulged in illegal activities of offering money to voters and spreading lies among Christians to gain unfair advantage in the elections.
“Not only are the said statements totally and completely false but it is clear that the same was made with the clear mala fide intent to tarnish the reputation of Our Client [Chandrasekhar] to try and gain an unfair advantage in the upcoming elections,” the notice issued in April 2024 stated.
