The undisclosed amount raised would be deployed towards expansion across geographies in the next one year.

9Unicorns, India’s first idea-phase accelerator VC fund, is the Lead investor in the Pre-Seed Round in petcare brand, PawPurrfect. The undisclosed amount raised would be deployed towards expansion across geographies in the next one year.

The PawPurrfect App, available both on Android and iOS in Mumbai, provides trusted professionals for training, grooming, dog walking, sitting, boarding and veterinarian needs at the pet’s doorstep.  The pioneer startup was launched in 2020 by Mrinalini Khusape, Xavier’s Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, Alumni and Rohan More, MD, Japalouppe Equestrian Centre. Mrinalini is the Honorary SEcretary and Treasurer of the Bombay Presidency Kennel Club.

Dr Apoorva Ranjan Sharma, Co-founder & Managing Director,9Unicorns said, “The organised pet services industry is a Blue-Ocean territory, with an untapped potential worth $ 3 billion. PawPurrfect, being a first of its kind e-marketplace for home delivery of service, would definitely have an edge in the industry owing to its first movers’ advantage. We are excited to back their vision of addressing the challenge of lack of trusted support in the pet care space.”

Mrinalini Khusape, Founder & CEO, PawPurrfect, commented, “The infusion of funds from seasoned investors acts as a vote of confidence that motivates us further to bring quality pet care, aided by technology, to families and its most vulnerable members. The convenience of a managed marketplace with proprietary technology, unique inventory and modular services will result in a high quality user experience.”

PawPurrfect will look at including services across the pet’s lifetime, using technologies like AI and Blockchain to render the best possible pet care and pet parent experience. While Venture Catalysts is the Lead Investor, the startup is also backed by many XIMB, HAAS School of Business, Lady Hardinge Medical College, and Stanford University alumni, among others. The brand aims to make expert pet care services, a seamless reality in India, ‘one Purrfect Paw at a time!’
