BuyHive Rolls Out its Expert-Assisted Sourcing Program in India

The program will enable global buyers to find and work directly with independent sourcing professionals from India specializing in a variety of product categories

Tech-enabled global sourcing platform BuyHive today announced the rollout of its Expert-Assisted Sourcing Program in India. The program will enable global buyers to find and work directly with independent sourcing professionals from India specializing in a variety of product categories.

BuyHive’s Expert-Assisted Sourcing Program (EASP) is the first-of-its-kind program to enable access to freelance sourcing experts from India for buyers around the world. The program aims to democratize independent sourcing from Indian manufacturers and suppliers. BuyHive said that it has signed up nearly 500+ sourcing experts specializing in the consumer goods industries in Greater China. Considering the importance of India as a sourcing destination, the company plans to recruit over 5,000 independent sourcing professionals spread across India over the next 12 months across a diverse set of categories, including apparel and textiles, home décor, handicrafts, metalware, garden & outdoor furnishing, electronics, hardware, and hand tools.

Speaking at the launch, Minesh Pore, Co-founder, and CEO of BuyHive said, “The rollout of ‘Expert-Assisted Sourcing Program’ in India marks an important milestone in our mission to reinvent global sourcing for the digital age. As the world warms up to manufacturing in India, this program will enable global buyers to work with qualified sourcing experts and use the latter’s skills to source and procure high-quality products from Indian manufacturers.”

BuyHive said it plans to reach out to and work with manufacturing associations and Export Promotion Councils, including FIEO, EPCH, AEPC, EEPC, TEXPROCIL, CoirBoard, APEDA, and HEPC among others, to recruit the top sourcing professionals in each Vertical. A majority of these freelancers will have over 10 years of experience in working with local manufacturers and buying goods on behalf of international buyers. BuyHive expects these freelancers to speak the local language, business language, and the manufacturing lingo, of that respective vertical.

“On account of their experience, they become subject matter experts in a single product category and understand the intricacies of the sourcing and manufacturing of that product. They also typically demonstrate a thorough understanding of issues related to quality, compliance, and technical aspects of the manufacturing process involved,” added Mr. Pore.

India’s manufacturing sector currently contributes around 17% to the nation’s GDP and gives employment to around 10% of the country’s workforce – totaling around 40 million. The ‘Make in India’ vision document aims to increase this contribution to GDP to 25%.
