Consider how many students are good speakers but their fear of the stage and facing an audience holds them back from exhibiting their true potential.
“The key to change is to let go of fear” – Roseanne Cash.
Exploring a new venture almost always comes with a sense of fear but moving forward by working on it will result in a flourishing path to personal growth. There is no room for self-enhancement without learning to deal rightly with fear.
Dealing with fear can result in two outcomes:
1. Overcoming fear to help Personal Growth.
2. Neglecting fear resulting in destruction of Personal Growth.
It is quite common for most people to be able to work more efficiently when under pressure due to fear caused by the realization that the deadline may be missed. For example, when it comes to assignments, most students wait until the last moment to complete it because that’s when the pressure, and subsequently the fear, starts to kick in. In such cases, we see how fear can help Personal Growth. It is that fear that keeps us going.
Knowing how to handle fear can really work in one’s favor. Consider how many students are good speakers but their fear of the stage and facing an audience holds them back from exhibiting their true potential. Taking the first step is the hardest but once done, their confidence will gradually build up and soon they will be unstoppable.
However, there are two sides to every coin. What if one stopped fearing anything and everything altogether? Imagine a student stopped fearing the consequences of neglecting their homework, exams, and their parents. Doing so would wreck their personal growth because these are some of the exact factors that would help them in their growth.
Hence, we see how the way one handles fear can either make or break them. The first step always instills the most fear but once that has been overcome, the rest will seem considerably easier.
Hold your head high and conquer your fears.
