SleepyCat Raises US$3.8M From Saama Capital, DSG Consumer Partners & Sharrp Ventures

Established in Aug 2017 to break the clutter in the Indian sleep solutions market, SleepyCat is a customer-obsessed brand focused on offering the most innovative and comfortable products in the market. The premium D2C brand focuses on sleep solutions and has quickly grown to serve over a lakh customers across India. 

SleepyCat raised US$3.8M in a round led by Saama Capital, with participation from existing investors: DSG Consumer Partners & Sharrp Ventures (Mariwala family office). This marks the company’s second external fundraise since inception, following a US$1.6M round led by DSG Consumer Partners & Sharrp Ventures in September 2019.

With the new round of funding, SleepyCat plans to galvanize research and development efforts to lead to even better product and process innovation. Centered around its premium vacuum-pressed doorstep-delivered mattresses, the Company has been expanding its portfolio of holistic sleep wellness products to include pillows, comforters, etc. As customers look to invest more in themselves and their comfort, superior product offerings have started seeing a lot of traction in India. SleepyCat is looking to build purpose-driven products that aid in self-care and those that drive a culture of looking after oneself. From the team they are building, to their customers, it’s a value they hold strongly.

Based in Mumbai, SleepyCat introduced India to the concept of a mattress-in-a-box and focused on ‘factory to doorstep’ mattress delivery, to solve the broken consumer journey involved in an offline purchase. In less than 4 years since its inception, SleepyCat has become one of the top-rated players in the category shipping over 10,000 products a month across categories. The brand emphasizes high quality, transparency in product-related communication and aims to improve the quality of sleep. Since its previous fundraise, SleepyCat has expanded its product portfolio to include a premium range of comfort products for the bedroom, including pillows, comforters, beds. The brand has also entered the pet bedding category with its fluffy and orthopedic pet bed offerings.
