Revolutionary change in digital technology has contributed a lot to the education sector. Many education institutions (newly established and the old ones) have benefited from regularly devolved educational-based digital equipment. Therefore, they have identified the importance of an online-based educational system and its role in satisfying the needs of the current educational system.

Educational technology, in general, has evolved in many forms. Edtech has emerged very fast to create a strong bonding between internal and external educational atmosphere. It helps establish a much-needed link, which in return helps make quality education accessible to a broader range of audiences. The literacy rate increases, along with the employment rate as more people are now getting educated, and the employed can learn the specific skills that are important to crack an interview for a job.

There has been a significant change in our education system in the last few centuries. But if we look at the proportion of youth compared to our current population, we will find that it is insufficient. Even today, our education system lacks the resources to provide equal access to all. Many children and youth are deprived of education due to its inability to reach a wider audience. Online education saw this shortcoming as an opportunity and slowly made progress in making changes.

Role of Pandemic

Online education started only a few decades ago, and today it has established itself to a great extent. COVID-19 has badly affected our systems like the education sector, health sector, manufacturing sector, etc.

Due to the pandemic, we had to face national-level lockdowns many times, which was also a necessity. But the lockdown also affected the educational institutions that did not adapt to the need. During this, along with other institutions, our education institutions also remained closed, and due to this, our education system became partially helpless. Considering, the lack of significant thought being put into the idea of online-based education early on, many institutions faced problems, as they had to plan and develop the entire online ed-tech platform from scratch.

During COVID-19, the traditional education system had to accept the importance of online learning. There has been a significant change in the traditional ways of teaching. There has been unprecedented improvement in our education system with the advancement in technology. Nowadays, smart boards have come into play instead of the traditional children’s board. The technology involvement not only improved the efficiency of providing study material to the students but has also made the learning process and lecture delivery more interactive and exciting for the students and as well as for the teachers. This has benefited both parties; by keeping their standard education system intact, many more significant education institutions have also started an online education, and smartboard is playing a vital role here.

Increasing Popularity of Online Based Educational Model

Online education has gained a lot of popularity among the students, and now even big educational institutions consider its importance as an alternative education system while paying much-needed attention to it. Some education institutions use their websites, and some are present on mobile apps. The involvement of websites and apps has also provided many IT companies with new projects as they now have to hire newer talent to develop, build and maintain websites and apps for them. Hence, providing opportunities in the market.

Many education institutions have started online courses at the national and international levels. These courses are available in many formats and patterns, such as free online courses or online paid courses, flexible courses or time-based courses, and many more. They have also developed many online-based platforms, which in return provide opportunities in the field of management and information technology. All the activities and arrangements that are required to develop and maintain these web pages or online platforms are made by the respective universities.

Guidelines for Online Ed Tech Model

With the evolution of the educational system, it is essential to develop rules and regulations to keep the system up to the mark. In this regard, the education regulatory authority has issued new guidelines. Many universities are now offering degree courses on their online platform, keeping these new rules and regulations in mind. Education institutions are now permitted by the competent authority to deliver recommended lectures online, which can be discussed online. Study materials available online are being prepared at par with the quality of the textbooks. Online students are also given a facility to check their progress and self-evaluate. A system of accountability and transparency is maintained between the students and the universities.

Increasing Unemployment Acting As A Factor

Due to jobs getting more skill-oriented, it is crucial to master the specific skills required by the company. Due to this, there is a sudden surge in demand for challenging skills-based courses. Considering its importance, many universities are offering these courses individually on their digital platforms. They use various methods, including digital technology, to reach out to the public. Also, skill-based courses provided by well-known universities can provide an extra boost for your resume.

You will find many free or paid skill-based courses. However, you can identify the skills you want to acquire, select the learning platform, identify if it’s a credible source and the course duration. Because if you enroll in a course without giving a proper thought, you might end up wasting time, energy, and money if you choose to go ahead with a paid course.

If you are confused about which course to do, it will be good to get counseling. Many education institutions have their counseling department to help students choose the right course as per their ability. You should always remember and understand that one can not be suitable in all the fields and it is alright to seek help and look for advice.

You may try free counseling provided by your respective institutions or universities, and if still not satisfied, then go out and look for any paid counseling. Usually, the counseling registration is available on the universities’ websites. Then after logging in to their web portal, you can avail of this facility. If they don’t have any online platforms, you can contact the office and get information about the counseling and get yourself registered.

Is the Indian online education system going in the right direction?

Even today, a big part of our youth population is still deprived of education and many educated young people are in search of jobs.

It is imperative to know that the population of India’s youth is large compared to other countries. That can be converted into a considerable working force provided everyone has access to education and an equal opportunity. But we usually are not able to do so. Now the time has come to consider this a huge problem and start taking positive steps very fast to eradicate it.

Can the education system be held responsible?

On a positive note, with an unprecedented revolution in technology, a significant change in how an industry works can be seen. Our education system has also changed a lot and is moving towards a significant change and bringing many reforms. In the education field, many startups have emerged to support our education system, and they are working very hard. They’re providing skills-based education that is now becoming a significant demand in various sectors with technological advancement. Statistics show that many have benefited from skills-based training and are now working in various companies in India. Education institutions have also joined hands with them and are trying to make education accessible to all with a positive approach.

As the competition increases, many companies are forced to provide their services to consumers at rates lower than their competitors. This results in financial loss for the companies as they cannot maintain profitable margins. Many companies have shifted to the mentioned strategy for maintaining a solid position in the market share. Some critics suggest that the respective phenomenon should not be applied to India’s consumer market, at least not to the extent similar to that of internet sector consumers.

Traditional Classroom Teaching vs. Virtual Classroom Teaching

These are some tough and uncertain times. We can take Covid-19 as an example, due to which our life has come to a standstill position. Our well-established systems are running in a very delicate phase; one of them is our education system too. We should thank digital technology, which plays an essential role in overcoming unpredictable situations.

Today, traditional and virtual classroom teaching have become a vast and challenging subject. Expressing an opinion on this is not an easy task because both have pros and cons. But we will talk about its positivity.

A general perception that is spreading in the air is that now both have understood that they have to come together to better the education system in this country. To maintain their existence, they have to work together with a positive mind.

If we talk about Western nations, we will find that offline study and online study collaboration took place years ago. Because of that, their educational institutions are doing a tremendous job, and they’re finding themselves in a perfect position in delivering quality education to their residents. This trend has also started in our country in the last few years and has taken perfect shape.

Some experts say that ed-tech has become a reliable medium between online and offline studies. It provides authentic and good-quality study materials to the students that are very useful in their academic preparation. With this happening, students understand how to start to upskill to become a better version of themselves.

Teachers would always have a unique position in our society despite all this. They have contributed a lot to our education system for building a robust and educated nation and are contributing even today and are incomparable.

Teachers: An Integral Part

Teachers are the most valuable persons in our life other than our parents. During the education period, we spend most of the time with them. Teachers can belong to any field, be it education, sports, spiritual, etc. We can’t deny their importance in our education. A teacher is that person who dedicatedly put their efforts and selflessly put their all experience into us to make our life meaningful.

Not only do they teach us academics but build and shape our other skills together and equally, such as team spirit, sportsmanship, tolerance, respect for others, self-respect, self-confidence, etc. A teacher always motivates and encourages extracurricular activities. They relate things with their life experience during teaching to make us understand more effectively. This makes a complete personality. They talk about incidents concerning the subjects. Many times they play the role of good counselor for us. It is meant to say that the importance of the teacher will always remain the same. One cannot replace it no matter what.
