Despite being a skincare aficionado, I have to think twice before I use any new skincare product, all thanks to my extra-sensitive skin. Once upon a time, there was a cult-favourite vitamin C serum that I was super excited to try out. Alas! My skin didn’t react well to it and I was left with pesky pimples and rashes.
So, you can only imagine how tedious it is for me to finally come across a few products that don’t just suit my sensitive and oily skin, but also nourish it intensely. Being someone with a strict skincare regimen that practically never changes, I took a huge risk by experimenting with skincare products that I’d never tried before. Elemis, Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads
Having only ever used a glycolic acid toner, I was extremely apprehensive about letting lactic acid into my routine. These facial pads by Elemis are dual-action exfoliating pads that are supposed to be gently rubbed over your skin, twice a day. However, I prefer using them just once a day since I’m a tad bit afraid of over-exfoliating my skin and compromising its barrier. The presence of a probiotic ferment complex in these facial pads is what boosts the renewal process of your skin.
COSRX, Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream
Finally hopped on the snail mucin bandwagon with this one. I’d always been so intrigued about skincare products that contained snail mucin. But I was a little apprehensive about trying them, all thanks to this preconceived notion of them being thick in consistency. Much to my surprise, I was proven wrong. The advanced snail 92 all in one cream is a gel that’s a little sticky to touch, but glides over the skin and gets absorbed with ease. It prevents breakouts, courtesy of the soothing abilities of snail mucin and deeply nourishes your skin. A little product goes a long way, so this tub will last you forevah!
BrownSkin Beauty, Brown Bakery Serum
I’d been on the lookout for a new hyaluronic acid serum that satiated my thirsty winter skin without making it seem oily. Behold, the brown bakery serum by BrownSkin Beauty! Along with hyaluronic acid that deeply hydrates, this serum is also brimming with the goodness of cinnamon and honey. Usually, I use this right before I hit the sack so I can wake up to soft and supple skin. Another way I enjoy using this is by mixing it with my sheer foundation. Hey, it’s the ultimate key to acing the dewy dumpling look.
Elemis, Pro-Collagen Marine Oil
Okay, let me tell you a tiny secret. Facial oils terrify the living daylights out of me! However, the pro-collagen marine oil by Elemis is liquid gold, I’d say. It comes enriched with padina pavonica, which is a brown alga that supports hydration in copious amounts. Abyssine absorbs easily and white poppy seed oil leaves your skin gleaming and radiant. All you need is two small drops of it! I’m so impressed with how lightweight this facial oil is, it sinks right into your skin without leaving a tacky film. Definitely worth your coins!
iORA, Prebiotic Glow Mask
Prebiotic skincare is the latest ingredient-based trend in skincare that enthusiasts have been raving about, globally. This prebiotic glow mask from iORA happened to be my first tryst with the world of prebiotic skin care, and I must say, I was impressed. No matter how detoxifying clay masks happen to be, very often they lead to your skin drying out and losing essential moisture. This particular mask comes brimming with aloe vera, green tea and dead sea mud, all of which do a rather stellar job at purifying and hydrating your skin.
