Chana Dal Modak Recipe

I am up with the final recipe for ganesh chaturthi. This is one of my favourite sweet or modak. It is so tasty and pretty easy to make as well.

About Chana Dal Modak

Modakam is a sweet dumpling dish from India that is popular in many Indian states and cultures. According to Hindu belief, it is one of Lord Ganeshas favourite dishes and is thus used in prayers. A modaks sweet filling is made of freshly grated coconut and jaggery, while the outer soft shell is made of rice flour or wheat flour mixed
with khava or maida flour.

Modakam comes in two varieties: fried and steamed. The steamed version is frequently served with ghee.

Modak, also known as modakam or kudumu in Telugu, kadubu in Kannada, kozhakatta in Malayalam, and kozhukattai in Tamil, is a Marathi word. Its a rice or wheat flour dumpling with a filling of grated coconut and jaggery.

Chana dal is made from split and polished baby chickpeas. It resembles and tastes like small kernels of sweet corn and is a popular ingredient in Indian cuisine.

The outer dough is soft and inner filling is sweet, totally it will really hit the spot. This is the filling which i made for my susiyam and it works really good..

Ingredients for Chana Dal Modak

Chana Dal / Kadalai Paruppu:

Given that chickpeas are legumes, they taste a lot like beans. Because they are starchy, most people compare their flavour to cannellini and pinto beans. They also have an earthy flavour with nutty undertones.

Jaggery :

Depending on its composition, jaggery can taste like fresh cane juice, maple syrup, caramel, or molasses. The unrefined natural sweetener is available in a variety of colours, including light amber, golden brown, and dark brown. Jaggery is known by many different names, including gur in Urdu, gud in Hindi, and vellam in Tamil.

Ghee :
Ghee tends to be one of those hyperbole-inducing foods, like macarons and gelato, that people describe quite dramatically as being heavenly or the best thing ever. In actuality, ghee tastes like a cleaner, richer, more decadent version of butter itself.

Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you.
