Chilli Cheese Bajji

Mirchi Bajji or Mulaga Bajji is one of my all time favourite. I have shared a traditional bajji recipe here, but this has been my mind of quite long time and finally i made it couple days back and when i tasted it it was delicious.

I used my homemade bajji bonda mix which i was having in my fridge for quite a long time. if you don’t have that, you can just use a normal bajji batter which i have mentioned in the written part of the recipe..

Ingredients for Chilli Cheese Bajji

  • Bajji Bonda Mix – 2 cup (Recipe here)
  • Banana Peppers / Bajji Mirchi – 6 
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Water as needed
  • Chaat Masala Powder to taste
For Filling:
  • Onion – ½ cup chopped finely
  • Cheese – 1 cup grated
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander Leaves – 4 tbsp finely chopped
For Bajji Bonda Mix:(Mix all ingredients)
  • Gram Flour / Kadalai Mavu – 1 cup
  • Rice Flour / Arisi Mavu – ¼ cup
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
  • Chilli Powder – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Baking Soda / Cooking Soda – ¼ tsp
  • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi – ¼ tsp
  • Water – ¾ cup or adjust

How to make Chilli Cheese Bajji

  1. Mix all the ingredients for filling really well. So the cheese gets mushed into the onions.
  2. Now slit banana pepper in the middle, fill it with filling.
  3. Now mix water with bajji bonda mix and make a little thick batter.
  4. Coat the mirchi with the batter and drop in hot oil and fry till golden on both sides.
  5. Sprinkle top with some chat masala and serve.
