If you are looking for a quick spicy crunchy snack to go with your cup of tea then this is it..It is a puffed rice snack and it is a bit spicy but has lots of crunchy elements on them like peanuts, garlic, curry leaves. You can add some roasted gram dal in this, i didn’t have any so i skipped that.

Ingredients for Masala Pori Recipe

  • Puffed Rice / Pori – 4 cups
  • Peanuts – 2 tbsp
  • Roasted Chana Dal / Pori Kadalai – 2 tbsp
  • Garlic – 5 cloves chopped
  • Curry leaves a handful
  • Dry Red Chillies – 2 broken into pieces
  • Salt to taste
  • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi a pinch
  • Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi – ½ tsp
  • Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
  • Oil – 2 tsp

How to make Masala Pori (Kara Pori Recipe)

  1. Heat oil in a kadai. Add in peanuts, garlic and fry till golden.
  2. Add in curry leaves, dry red chillies and mix well.
  3. Add in salt and spice powders, toss well.
  4. Add in pori and give a quick toss.
  5. Let it cool, store in a air tight container for a week.
  6. Serve
