Oats Bread Recipe

Oatmeal Bread or Oats Bread is a healthy alternative for regular white bread. This has an addition of oats added which makes it more heartier. The Bread taste delicious but is easy to make.

Oats Bread

It’s been a while since i baked a bread. So couple days back i decided to try out a oats bread for me. I made it and loved the texture a lot. The flavour of the bread was pretty good as well.

Oatmeal is a porridge that is made from milled, steel-cut, or rolled oat grains. It an ancient cereal grain, come in a variety of forms, from rolled oats to instant oatmeal to whole oat groats, but they all begin as oat plant seeds.

Oats are also known ‘Jaie’ in India. They are widely grown in Haryana and Punjab in India; these grains require paddy fields to grow. Furthermore, these plants are typically grown using an organic cultivation method.

Bread is a staple food that is typically baked from a dough of flour and water. It has been an important part of many cultures; diets throughout recorded history and around the world.

This is a whole wheat version and it turned out pretty good..This is great when toasted and hand with some toppings like scrambled eggs, tomatoes and stuff like that..Great to make bruschetta as well.

Ingredients for Oats Bread Recipe :

  1. Wheat Flour – 1.5 cup
  2. Oats – ½ cup ( i used instant)
  3. Dried Yeast – 1.5 tsp
  4. Sugar – 1 tsp
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Warm Water – 1 cup or as needed
  7. Olive oil – 1 tblspn
  8. Milk for brushing on top of bread
  9. Sesame Seeds for sprinkling

Wheat Flour :

Wheat flour adds more nutrition to baked goods and other flour- based recipes, as well as a nutty and tasty flavour. However, when compared to a more refined all-purpose flour, this flour can sometimes make the finished product appear drier and produce a coarser texture.

Dried Yeast :

Dry yeast is ideal for breads that require a long, slow rising time because it activates faster and stays active for a longer period of time.

How to Make Oatmeal bread

  1. Take yeast, sugar in a bowl, add water water and let it sit for 5 mins.
  2. Take flour, oats, salt in a bowl and mix well. Add the yeast mix in and knead well. The dough with be little sticky.
  3. Now apply oil over it and cover with a plastic wrap. Set aside in a warm place for 1 hour or so.
  4. Now punch the air from the dough and knead it well on a counter, sprinkle more flour as needed.
  5. Now shape it into a log like and place it on a flour dusted baking tray.
  6. Apply oil over it and cover with a plastic wrap. Now set aside to rise for 30 to 45 mins
  7. In the last 10 mins of rising, preheat oven to 220 degree C.
  8. Now remove the plastic wrap, brush with some milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  9. Bake this in a preheated oven for 15 to 20 mins.
  10. Remove it and cool it down. 
  11. Slice and serve
