Nari Gursahani Law College (NGLC), named in honour of the esteemed Supreme Court advocate and humanist, stands as a beacon of legal education in Ulhasnagar. Since its establishment in 2004, NGLC, affiliated with the University of Mumbai and approved by the Bar Council of India, has been committed to imparting comprehensive legal knowledge.

About the Event

In solemn recognition of Dr. Gopi Gursahani’s Memorial, Nari Gursahani Law College invites the future torchbearers of justice to partake in the 9th Dr. Gopi Gursahani National-level Asian Parliamentary Debate Competition that celebrates a rich legacy of legal prowess and advocacy. As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the HSNC Board, this competition stands as a testament to the power of debate as a pillar of legal education and discourse.

Here, eloquence intertwines with reason, as we invite the brightest minds to engage in a battle of wits and words. This is not just a contest of arguments but a confluence of the past’s honor and the future’s potential. Eligibility

  • Participation in the competition is exclusively open to bonafide undergraduate students enrolled in any college/university/institution.
  • Each university/college is permitted to send only one team (comprising of three students) to represent their institution in the competition.

Structure of the Competition

The Competition will be structured as per the following format:

  • Preliminary Round
  • Final Round

Team Composition

The debate competition will follow the ‘3-on-3’ Asian parliamentary style of debating. Each team will comprise of three students.

Fee

The fee for the Competition is Rs. 1500 per team, payable online via the provided payment details:

This fee covers breakfast and a working lunch for the team members. An extra charge of Rs. 1500 applies for every additional individual accompanying the team. This individual would be a mere observer and accordingly will not be allowed to participate in the Competition.

Teams are required to email screenshots of both the completed Registration Form, the payment receipt, and the transaction i.d. (12-digit number) to nglc@nglawhsnc.edu.in.

Deadline

Teams must complete their registration by 4th March 2024 using the form provided in the brochure.

Awards

  • Champion Team: Winners of the final debate will be celebrated with a trophy and a Rs. 6000 cash reward along with online merit certificates, honoring their superior debating prowess.
  • Runners-up: The second-place team will be recognized with a trophy and Rs. 4500 cash along with online merit certificates, acknowledging their notable talent and effort.
  • Best Speakers: Two debaters with the highest individual score will earn the title of ‘Best Speaker’ and a Rs. 1000 cash prize along with online merit certificates, in recognition of their exceptional speaking and analytical skills.
  • The awards for ‘Best Speaker’ will be bestowed upon two outstanding debaters, each from different teams that are neither the winning nor the runner-up teams.
  • Participation Certificates: To commend the dedication and hard work, all debaters will receive online certificates of participation.
