AILET Pattern Changed for UG and PG Exam: All You Need to Know!

AILET recently announced a pattern change for both its Undergraduate (for induction into the BA LLB programme) as well as Postgraduate (Selection to the LLM programme) degrees. Understanding the test structure along with its basic rules and regulations is quintessential to your prep. Let’s look at these changes through this article.
1. No Maths Section in AILET UG 2022.
As per the new exam pattern, there will be no Maths section in AILET BA LLB.
What does the paper look like for a student seeking admission into the NLU Delhi BA LLB programme?
The paper will continue to have 150 questions, expected to be completed in 90 minutes. A student will be awarded 1 mark for every correct answer and will lose out on 0.25 mark for an incorrect attempt. The paper will now comprise of 3 sections.
SECTION A: English for 50 marks
SECTION B: Current Affairs & General Knowledge for 30 marks
SECTION C: Logical Reasoning for 70 marks
Thus, bringing the total score to 150. The AILET BA LLB merit list will be prepared based on the candidate’s overall marks (By adding marks achieved in each of the three sections). However, in case of a draw between two or more candidates, the university will give a higher rank to the candidate who scored more in the logical reasoning section.
2. AILET LLM to have both subjective as well as objective type questions.
For an LLM student, there’s now 100 MCQs and 10 descriptive questions (Only 2 to be answered from descriptive section). Each of the descriptive sections carry 25 marks, out of which they will have to answer any two questions.
What’s changed for a candidate seeking admission into the LLM programme?
The paper will now have 2 sections: A and B.
Section A, now has two parts English and Logical Reasoning. Both comprising of 50 questions of 1 mark each. Section B, of legal knowledge, wherein the candidate would be given 10 questions, out of which he/she would be expected to answer 2 questions.
The LLM merit list will be decided based on the candidate’s performance in both the sections.
However, the evaluation of section B will be done only if the candidate has passed section A. For evaluation of section B, the university will firstly prepare a preliminary merit list based on marks scored by the candidates in section A.
The number of candidates in the preliminary merit list will be thrice the number of seats for each category. Such candidates will have their section B evaluated. The final rank list will be prepared based on the combined scores in section A and section B.
AILET 2022 Exam Date
NLU Delhi will conduct the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2022 for admission to BA LLB, LLM and their PhD programmes, on May 1, in the offline mode.
