Rane claimed in his bail application that the FIR was registered against him with the sole aim of preventing his participation in the Sindhudurg Co-operative Bank district elections that were to be held on December 30, 2021.
He had contended that the prime controversy in the case was the recent “incident of cat-calling” outside the Vidhan Bhawan, which involved State Cabinet Minister Aditya Thackeray, son of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
