In its resolution, the Collegium had noted that the Madras High Court, which is the parent High Court of Justice Sivagnanam, has only one Chief Justice of a High Court – Justice S Manikumar of the Kerala High Court.
Noting that the consultee judges had okayed the Collegium’s proposal to recommend Justice Sivagnanam’s name, the resolution further stated,
“Apart from this, the period which has been served by Mr Justice T S Sivagnanam as a Judge of the Calcutta High Court would provide useful experience in his work as the Chief Justice of that High Court.”
