The CJI was speaking at a joint conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts which was presided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Decisions by court is often not implemented by governments for years together which leads to contempt petition which is new burden on court which is a direct result of defiance by government,” CJI NV Ramana said
The government, the CJI said, is the biggest litigant in courts accounting for 56 percent of cases in Courts, the CJI said.
