Gupta further contended that since Nair cooperated during the course of investigation and had already undergone 5 days in custody, there was no need for extension.
The Court noted that the First Information Report (FIR) in which Nair is accused, reflected allegations of commission of numerous irregularities in framing and implementing the Excise Policy of NCT of Delhi for the year 2021-22 and that a detailed investigation was required for arriving at a logical conclusion.
“The allegations as appearing in the FIR are serious and detailed investigation is required for the purpose of arriving at a logical conclusion in the due course,” it said.
Therefore the court extended Nair’s custody by 4 days till October 6, 2022.
