DHCBA files petition for expansion of Delhi High Court building, more courtrooms

In its plea, DHCBA and its secretary Sandeep Sharma has sought directions to the Central government and the High Court of Delhi to take immediate steps to provide additional space for infrastructural requirement and expansion of the High Court, including the DHCBA.

The plea has prayed for directions to establish additional court rooms, lawyers’ chambers, parking space, record room facilities and other allied activities by redevelopment of adjacent land at Bapa Nagar.

It has been stated that this area has old existing residential quarters for the government employees and, therefore, the government should be directed to hand over possession of entire land of Bapa Nagar for infrastructural needs for expansion of Delhi High Court.

“Because of inadequate regular parking space, Sher Shah Road, Bapa Nagar, residential area, Subramanium Bharti Marg, Justice Sunanda Bhandare Marg & other areas in the vicinity of the Delhi High Court are in chaos after 9AM on any working day. It is extremely difficult to ingress and egress once the day’s business is on. It is also fact that because of the incoming crowd of advocates as well as the litigants & other persons, there is considerable inconvenience caused to the residents of Bapa Nagar, as the lanes are literally choked due to the Car parking,” the plea said.
