Electoral Bonds a scam, needs SIT probe: Plea before Supreme Court

The petitioners claim that due to such concerns, the electoral bonds scheme has been called by many observers as the largest scam in India so far, and perhaps in the world.

It is also noted that the electoral bonds scheme has a money trail, unlike the 2G scam or the coal scam cases where the Supreme Court had called for court-monitored probes despite no money trail.

Therefore, the petitioners have now urged the top court to order a probe into the matter by an SIT comprising sitting or retired officers who are chosen by the Court.

The SIT probe should be supervised by a retired Supreme Court judge, the petitioners have added.

The investigation in this case would not only need to unravel the entire conspiracy in each instance, which would involve officers of the company, officials of the government and functionaries of political parties but also the officers concerned of agencies like the ED/IT and CBI etc., who appear to have become part of this conspiracy,” the plea stated.
