The Magazine Committee of the Department of Law, University of Calcutta is organising Gopal Bhar Memorial Meme Contest 2024 on 7-25 March.
About the Organiser
Established in the year 2019, the Magazine Committee aims to chonicle and showcase the diverse activities and achievements within the institution as well as of the various competitions organised by the Committee. The Committee publishes it’s bi-annual magazine ‘The Muses’, written and edited by the students of the Department of Law, University of Calcutta, which chronicles all activities under the aegis of the institution and paints a picture of the yearly endeavours of this institute and its students.
This publication provides a platform for the students to exhibit their creative, scientific, literary, academic prowess. In this edition, the committee is accepting submissions from all. It also runs an online blog “The Musing” where articles, essays, poems and interviews are published.
About the Competition
Gopal Bhar is one of the most famous and legendary character of Bengali comedy. Each and every bengali kids grow up listening to the stories of Gopal Bhar and his wittiness.
Gopal Bhar or Gopal Bhand (Bengali: গোপাল ভাঁড় [ˈɡopal bʱãˑɽ]) was a court jester in medieval Bengal. He was in the court of Raja Krishnachandra (1710–1783), the then-king of Nadia in the 18th century. Gopal used to give joy to others by laughter and ridicule. The king considered Gopal as a Navaratna of his court. His statue can still be seen in the palace of Krishnachandra and in Ghurni, Krishnagar town. Gopal is believed to have possessed a keen intelligence.
So as bengali we are trying to sow our respect and tribute to the Legendary character of Gopal Bhar, the greatest comedian of all time.
Rules
- Sexually explicit or politically colored content is not allowed.
- Your meme must be your own original concept.
- Judging criteria will include quality, artistic value, presentation and humour.
- At any given point of time or in case of any dispute the decision of the judge is final.
- The submission must not contain any identifying details such as name or signature in the meme.
Submission Guidelines
- The submission must be made by the participants by posting their respective memes on their Instagram story and also by DM us on our official Instagram handle. ( @culaw_magcom )
- The participants must mention and tag us ( @culaw_magcom )
- Non-Adherence to the guidelines shall lead to disqualification.
- Show us your creativity and get a chance to publish your meme in our Magazine.
- Not just that, top submissions will be featured on the Instagram feed of the Magazine Committee.
Awards
- E-Certificate of merits would be issued for the winners , 1st runners-up and 2nd runners-up.
- E-Certificate of participation would be given to all the participants.
