First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

On my first day of the internship itself, I was assigned the work of preparing a Case Note. I  interacted with two of the associates of Mr. Vinay Sir and throughout the time I was in the office I learned a bunch of new and informative things from them.

Office infrastructure is just amazing and very comforting. The look of the office is no less than any Corporate Firm. The office has a waiting area along with Vinay Sir’s chamber, a  conference room, main office space where all the associates, as well as interns, work. It is fully- furnished and air-conditioned.

Main Tasks

Drafting of legal notices and replies of notices, replies of writ petitions. Preparing updates and filling out order sheets.

Research work helped in developing my research skills and I also came across many different laws and Acts such as the Environmental Law, the Motor Vehicle Act, the Land Acquisition Act etc, which were new to me at that time but gradually I had an idea of them.

We had regular court visits and got to learn so much by witnessing the actual proceedings.

Good things

Vinay Sir is very helpful and super calm and cool. He demands punctuality and consistency in work and was never very strict. He was even flexible enough whenever it comes to taking leaves whenever one has their college examination going on.

The working environment of the office is pretty decent. An office where one can get to learn a lot.

They let interns attend conferences with clients and it really helps one to understand the practical aspect of litigation.

Bad things

The working hours used to be very hectic on most days. My usual working hours during the internship period were from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm (which may extend depending on the work).

Whenever court was there, on getting free from there we needed to get back to the office within an hour or so and that extended up to 8- 8:30 pm. Else, there was nothing bad as such.

Accommodation & Conveyance to Office

I locally belong from Jodhpur itself so I didn’t face any accommodation issues. But as the office is located in the main city area hence PGs are easily accessible. For commuting cabs and city buses are always an option available.

Stipend

The culture of giving stipends is not much here in Jodhpur, but what I feel is, one must be given that, if not counting everything then at least keeping in mind the transportation expenses which sounds fair enough. No stipend was given.

Anything else?

The conference room of the office had this big screen having a subscription to almost all the OTT platforms, so sometimes while having lunch we used to watch some series or movie on that.

The associates of the office were quite cool and we often used to order eatables from outside. We also celebrated birthdays in the office whether be it of any office maid or any other member of the office.

Overall the office environment was pretty decent and healthy. I actually learned a lot of working ethics and quite other things as well. For me, it was an overall good experience.
