How did you Apply?

The internship was applied by email and thereby subsequent follow-ups were done with respect to the status of the internship application

First Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

The first day at LPJ started with meeting the co-interns. keeping the traffic in mind, I reached a little early, which helped me get a sense of the work done in the office. Then, I was introduced to the senior associates and subsequently was added to the WhatsApp group specifically made for LPJ interns for better communication between the associates and the interns.

Slack, an application which is the sole application used for work-related things was asked by the seniors to install and subsequently slack id was made. On slack, every work is done for better management and having a collaborative online workspace. The first task was given to attend the NCLT proceedings and inform the senior about the firm’s item number.

After lunch, the first drafting task was given to draft the written statement pertaining to consumer complaints. The senior explained the concept of a written statement and how to draft one very exhaustively and was patient enough to entertain queries in between the drafting process.

As far as the infrastructure of the office is concerned the firm has a well-furnished office with enough space to work and is surrounded by law books, bare acts and commentaries in a very aesthetically pleasing manner.

The first impression was all in all great as I wanted to know how drafting is done and the nuances of it which were duly explained to me on the very first day, which made me work even better as my queries were duly addressed by the seniors.

Main Tasks

Tasks undertaken during the course of the internship were:

  • Drafting notices
  • Drafting written statements
  • Drafting varied applications,
  • Assisting seniors with respect to the legal research
  • Court work such as visiting courts such as Delhi High Courts and Various other courts.

Work Environment

The work environment at LPJ is very good. I would recommend every law student to intern for a better understanding of the art of drafting and also how to create coherent legal-based research for cases. Also, seniors encourage you to go to the courts with them to gain experience and to acknowledge the intricacies of litigation.

Good things

  • Work environment
  • Supportive seniors
  • Exposure

Bad things

There were no bad things as far as I remember.

Accommodation & Conveyance to Office

Metro and cab.

Stipend

No stipend was paid.

Other Details

We explored nearby cafes and fun spots. During lunch, with seniors, we would discuss legal issues and also cases.

I think one lesson I’ll take from this internship is that having a supportive work environment really gives you more confidence to work better and also makes you realise the need and imperativeness of it in today’s firm culture.
