Internship Experience at the High Court for the State of Telangana, Hyderabad: Professional Environment; No Stipend

Sent a Resume and Cover letter to the High Court Registry through email.

First-day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

On the first day of my Internship, I met the Hon’ble Judge for the first time in a while and ensured to sit in the courtroom and observe the court proceedings.

For an entire day, I sat in the courtroom and observed the proceedings of the High Court from close quarters. I prepared notes during the court proceedings and showed them to the Hon’ble Judge and marked an Impression from her ladyships.

Main tasks

As a Judicial Intern, I mainly have to Research work, Brefing of Cases, Brief the Supreme Court judgments, and Assist in all other kinds of work relating to the cases appeared before the Judge.

Work Environment

The work environment was completely professional in the court hall and Chambers of the Hon’ble Judge. I was in a place where only Law was around me.

Good things

  • Through this great Internship program, I acquired a great knowledge relating to Law.
  • Learned good proficiency in doing Research work.
  • Improved my drafting and reading skills to another level.
  • Learned actually how the “Court decorum” is to be maintained.
  • Observed all the court proceedings from close quarters.
  • This Internship program Improved my Confidence to do Law to another extent.

Stipend/certificate

A certificate of appreciation was given by the Hon’ble Judge for my work. There was no stipend paid.

Details about accommodation and commute

I am supposed to go from my hostel to the High Court.

Anything else?

  • It was a great experience for me to do an Internship under the guidance of the Hon’ble High Court Judge.
  • I did a constructive role during the Internship.
  • The lesson I learned “is that hard work matters to building your career in this profession”.
