How did you Apply?

I applied two months in advance via the email scdrcinternships@gmail.com and received the confirmation mail after 2-3 follow-ups.

First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression

On my first day, I was asked to reach the office by 10 a.m. The office is located 5 minutes’ walking distance from the ITO metro station gate number 6 at Vikash Bhawan, A block, 1st floor.

Mr. Zahid, an LR there, briefed me about the office and its workings. He also explained the Consumer Protection Act and how to do a case briefing.

Main Tasks

Case briefs, research and judgment writing

Work Environment

The work environment was pretty good and chill. The other interns were from Delhi University and Lloyd Law College, and they were very helpful.

Good Things about the Internship

They usually take 7 interns per month. The internship is under the President of SCDRC, Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, and will be a good addition to your CV.

The experience provided firsthand knowledge of drafting judgments and the inner workings of the courtroom. You will gain a strong understanding of the Consumer Protection Act. The interns I worked with were also very helpful, leading to lasting friendships and cherished memories.

Office timing was usually from 10-5, but sometimes you might have to stay till 7 depending on the number of cases for the next day.

Bad Things about the Internship

Personally, I liked everything about this internship.

Monthly Stipend

No stipend

Details about the Accommodation, Commuting to the Office

Since I am a Faridabad (NCR) resident, I didn’t need to find a place to stay. However, some fellow interns chose Laxmi Nagar because it has a good selection of affordable PGs and flats.

The office was conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the nearest metro station, ITO Gate number 6.

Anything Else You Want to Share?

There are many food stalls outside the office, one of them being Mahaveer Dhaba, where you can have lunch. Janpath, Lajpat Nagar, CP, and the doll museum are also nearby.

Most of the offices are located in ITO, like the GST office, Delhi Commission for Women, Passport Seva Kendra, Income Tax office, etc.
