Jammu & Kashmir High Court to hear ED plea to cancel bail of ex State Minister Choudhary Lal Singh on April 20

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is slated to hear the ED’s challenge to this sessions court order in April.

The matter was listed before Justice Sanjay Dhar last Tuesday (March 26), but could not be heard due to a paucity of time. Therefore, the case was adjourned till April 20.

Notably, Singh is contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Udhampur constituency as a Congress candidate following his switchover from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Singh had quit from his post as a Jammu and Kashmir minister and left the BJP in 2018 after facing criticism for participating in a rally supporting the then-accused persons in the Kathua rape case.

The Udhampur polls are scheduled to take place on April 19, a day before the High Court has listed the ED’s plea to cancel his bail and send him back to jail.

Lal Singh’s wife and their daughter Kranti Singh is also presently out on bail in the same case.
