Jayalalithaa death: Madras High Court asks State about steps taken after Arumughaswamy Inquiry Commission Report

A Bench of Acting Chief Justice T Raja and Justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by one RR Gopaljee, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the circumstances that led to Jayalalithaa’s death.

In his PIL, Gopaljee claimed that the State was yet to take any effective action based on the Commission’s report.

Tamil Nadu Advocate General R Shunmughasundaram told the Court that the report had been forwarded to the State health department as it contained “a lot of medical terms and details of the treatment” provided to the late Chief Minister. He sought time to take instructions on the steps taken.

The Court then adjourned the hearing to March 27, and granted the State time to furnish details.
