About the Opportunity
Mad Street Den is inviting applications from eligible candidates for the post of Legal Counsel with 10+ years of PQE to join its office in Chennai.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Legal Compliance: Stay up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to AI, data privacy, intellectual property, and technology in order to ensure the company’s compliance.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including licensing agreements, service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and vendor agreements.
- Intellectual Property: Basic knowledge about intellectual property matters, including patent applications, trademark registrations, and copyright issues, and work closely with the IP consultant.
- Data Privacy: Basic knowledge of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with data protection laws, such as GDPR and CCPA, and advice on privacy-related matters.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential legal risks and provide proactive solutions to mitigate them, including analyzing contracts, assessing liability, and advising on the legal implications of business decisions.
- Corporate Governance: Work closely with Company Secretary to take care of corporate governance matters, including drafting board resolutions, maintaining corporate records, and ensuring compliance with relevant corporate laws and regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, such as those related to AI ethics, data security, and consumer protection.
- Litigation Support: Liaise with external counsel and provide legal support in litigation matters, including managing disputes, conducting legal research, and assisting in the preparation of legal briefs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Degree from an accredited law school and admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- 10+ years of experience
- Knowledge of laws and regulations related to AI, data privacy, intellectual property, contracts, and technology.
- Experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and review.
- Understanding of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, and copyright matters.
- Familiarity with data privacy and protection laws, such as GDPR and CCPA, and their application to AI technologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Experience in the AI industry or technology sector is a plus.
