Role Purpose

At Campari, the Legal Team is committed to creating agile solutions. The Managing Counsel, India will act as a business partner to provide legal advice, guidance and services essential to the development of Campari India’s business operations.

This includes advising on, drafting, and/or reviewing commercial contracts, marketing and product packaging reviews, management of company secretary and corporate regulatory requirements and developing and implementing compliance program requirements in collaboration with the broader Legal team (where applicable) and consistently with the Company’s global guidelines, regional business priorities and the Campari values.

Eligibility

  • Law degree & admission to the Bar Council in India
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience, ideally working with international FMCG brands in either an in-house role or law firm;
  • Ability to work autonomously, exercise initiative and deal with ambiguity;
  • Contract drafting and negotiating skills;
  • Appetite to learn;
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information;
  • Ability to meet deadlines by managing a range of priorities simultaneously;
  • Experience with developing, implementing and delivering compliance programs viewed favourably;
  • Company secretariat and corporate governance experienced viewed favourably; and
  • Strong organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accountabilities:

  • Deal with complex matters that span across legal and related areas, managing projects and deadlines;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge to ensure compliance with relevant policies, legislation and regulations;
  • Manage and report against the legal budget as required;
  • Make sound decisions, based on ethics and integrity;
  • Negotiate and draft contracts (e.g., supply, logistics, production, distribution, marketing, etc);
  • Provide compliance advice, including compliance with any Campari Group or industry codes, regulations, labelling laws, liquor licensing and other general compliance requirements;
  • Develop, maintain, implement and present on legal compliance programmes specific to the local requirements as well as implement any corporate led compliance initiatives;
  • Assist with dispute resolution matters, complaint management and regulatory responses, as required;
  • Manage local board meetings, corporate filing obligations, board administration and filings in compliance with applicable local laws and the Company’s Corporate Governance Rules; and
  • Work with the Managing Counsel, Asia and Regional General Counsel & Public Affairs APAC with project work as required.
