Madras High Court refuses to entertain plea to bar BJP leader Nainar Nagendran from contesting Lok Sabha polls

On March 6 this year, election officials had seized around ₹3.9 crore from three passengers onboard the Nellai Express. They had later claimed that the money was meant for distribution to voters in the Tirunelveli Lok Sabha constituency, the petitioner told the Court.

Raghavan claimed that the money was seized from people linked to Nagendran and hence, he should be disqualified.

He also sought directions to disqualify Congress Party candidate Robert Bruce.

Raghavan said he had already made a representation before the Election Commission of India (ECI) seeking the disqualification of the two candidates.
