Madras High Court seeks response from State on plea to rein in bike stunts, vloggers who flout road safety norms

This in turn influences several youngsters, who copy these stunts without any regard to safety measures, the petition said.

Vignesh also submitted that the “bike-vloggers were using State and National highways for racing and rash driving instead of special racing tracks specifically allotted for ethical racing.”

He also said that several vloggers use modified bikes without obtaining required permission from the RTO. Such alterations to the bike’s structure also impacts the technical performance of the bike and results in accidents. Further, in doing so, these bikers were flouting the Supreme Court guidelines on modification of bikes and exhibiting dangerous stunts without any warning, the plea claimed.

Advocate Mohanakrishnan appeared for the petitioner.

Advocate General R Shunmugasundaram appeared for the state government.
