About MeitY
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is responsible for formulation, implementation and review of national policies in the field of Information Technology, Electronics and Internet (all matters other than licensing of Internet Service Provider).
Its mission is to promote e-Governance for empowering citizens; promoting the inclusive and sustainable growth of the Electronics, IT and ITeS industries; enhancing India’s role in Internet Governance; adopting a multipronged approach that includes development of human resources; promoting R&D and innovation; enhancing efficiency through digital
services; and ensuring a secure cyber space.
About the Opportunity
For the larger benefit of the student community and with a view to enrich the management/ implementation of its various schemes/programmes, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has decided to notify these “Internship Guidelines”, to provide a framework for engagement of Interns for a limited period.
The minimum duration of internship shall be of two months, extendable up to three months, depending
on the performance of the candidate, requirement of the Ministry and time the intern is willing to spend with the Ministry.
Eligibility Criteria
- Indian students from recognized universities in India who have secured at least 60% marks in the last held degree or certificate examination and pursuing:
- B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)/ Computer Science (CS)/ IT/ Electronics & Communications (EC)/ Electronics/ Electrical)
- M.Sc.(CS/IT/ Electronics/ Electrical)
- MCA/DOEACC ‘B’ level
- LL.B
- B.E/B.Tech (Electronics & Communications (EC)/ Electronics) and MBA (Finance) OR M.Sc.(Electronics) and MBA (Finance)
- Possessing minimum qualifications as above shall not guarantee internship in this Ministry. Candidates having exposure in the area of intended internship with good academic background and having higher qualification, based on need shall be given preference.
Note:- The students who are in the last semester or who will pass out in summer 2024 will not be eligible for the internship. Only students who are in the previous one year will be eligible.
Note:- Students would be considered for internship only for ‘Cyber Laws’ and ‘Public policy on Internet’ areas. Students would be considered for internship only for “Project appraisal and Funding methodologies for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing units vis a vis international economies” area.

- Selection/scrutiny of applications: 22nd to 28th May 2024
- Result of selected interns: 29th May 2024
- Offer of Internship (by Admin): 29th May 2024
- Candidates to confirm for Internship: 29th to 30th May 2024
- Offer of Internship (by Admin) to waitlisted candidates: 31st May 2024
- Waitlisted candidates to confirm for Internship: 1st to 2nd June 2024
- Commencement date of Internship: 3rd June 2024
- Completion date of Internship: 2nd August 2024
- Submission of Report by Intern: 2nd to 6th August 2024
- Report to be accepted and upload by individual GC: 2nd to 9th August 2024
- Issuance of Completion Certificate (By Admin): 12th to 16th August 2024
Stipend
A token stipend of Rs.10,000/- per month would be paid to an Intern subject to satisfactory performance, duly certified by his Supervisor/Mentor.
