The detailed steps are as follows:

  1. Candidates should apply online for the RBI Law Officer Recruitment only through the official website www.rbi.org.in.
  2. Go to www.rbi.org.in >Opportunities@RBI>Current Vacancies>Vacancies and click on “Online Application Form”.
  3. Enter their basic details and upload the photograph, signature, left thumb impression and a hand-written declaration as per the specifications given. 
  4. To register the application, choose the tab “Click here for New Registration” and enter your Name, Contact details and Email-id. A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system.
  5. Fill in the necessary details
  6. Validate your details and Save your application.
  7. Upload Photo & Signature as per the specifications given in the Guidelines for Scanning and Uploading of Photograph and Signature. 
  8. Fill in other details of the Application Form.
  9. Click on the Preview Tab to preview and verify the application form before FINAL submission. Modify details, if required, and click on ‘FINAL SUBMIT’ ONLY after verifying and ensuring that the photograph, signature uploaded and other details filled are correct. 
  10. Click on the ‘Payment’ Tab and proceed with payment. 
  11. Click on the ‘Submit’ button.

Age Limit

  1. The higher age limit of candidates applying for this post should be 32 years (Age relaxation given to SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).
  2. The upper age limit is relaxable by three years for candidates who possess an LL.M. degree and five years for candidates with a PhD in Law. 

Essential Qualifications

  1. A graduate degree in Law is essential to apply for Legal Officer (Grade B) post in RBI.
  2. Candidates should take up an LLB degree from any institute recognized by the Bar Council of India. 50% marks in the LLB course are compulsory for this position in RBI.
  3. It is necessary for candidates to study Computer Applications to apply for this post.
  4. Postgraduates in Law are also eligible to apply for this post in RBI.

Experience Required

At least two years experience as an:

  1. Advocate/ Legal Consultant/ Legal Assistant/ Associate in an Advocates’ or Solicitors’ Office or Law firm after being enrolled with the Bar Council; or 
  2. As a Law Officer in the Legal Department of a large bank / financial institution / statutory corporation/company / State / Central Government; or 
  3. As a full-time teacher of law in a Law College / University.
  1. Dealing with references on legal matters received from various departments of the Reserve Bank and its associate institutions, which are primarily related to the interpretation and study of different statutes such as the Reserve Bank of India Act 1934, Foreign Exchange Management Act 1999, Banking Regulation Act 1949, Companies Act 2013, etc. 
  2. Making first drafts of legislation administered/to be administered by the Bank. 
  3. Drafting pleadings and comprehensive instructions/briefs to counsel in connection with litigation that involves the RBI and its associate institutions.
  4. Appearing before Labour Courts, Conciliation Officers,  Tribunals etc., on behalf of the Bank.
Basic Pay ₹35,150/- p.m.(on the scale of ₹35150-1750(9)-50900-EB-1750(2)-54400-2000(4)-62400 applicable to Officers in Grade ‘B’)
Allowances Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Local Compensatory Allowance, Special Allowance and Grade Allowance as per rules applicable from time to time.
