About Pro-Bono Club

The NLUD Pro bono club is constituted to strengthen the Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Legal Services) program which is an initiative under the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice. The Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Legal Services) is the Government of India’s primary initiative to establish a framework for the dispensation of pro bono legal services across the country.

The Pro Bono Club (PB club) Scheme, has been conceptualized to strengthen the existing pro bono program, by integrating law schools and students within its fold.

About the Course Instructor

Professor David McQuoid-Mason is a Professor of Law based at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban; and an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa; President of the Commonwealth Legal Education Association; Visiting Professor of Law, Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland; Adjunct Professor of Law, Griffiths University, Brisbane, Australia.

Professor McQuoid-Mason established the first law clinic at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 1973, and the first Street Law legal literacy program in South Africa in 1986. He has visited more than 129 countries and has facilitated numerous training, curriculum, and materials development workshops on Street Law, Human Rights, and Democracy in a variety of countries.

Workshop Outcomes

  • Be able to describe what is meant by street law and how it can be used to teach about law and human rights.
  • Appreciate the importance of using interactive teaching and learning methods when teaching about law and human rights.
  • Prepare a street law lesson.
  • Teach a street law lesson.

Course Fees

Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand Only).
