Telangana High Court directs District Judiciary not to host, organise religious functions, ceremonies in court premises

The circular issued by the Registrar General of the High Court said that it was recently brought to the notice of the High Court that religious functions and ceremonies were being organised in court premises of district courts.

The Registrar General cited the circulars issued way back in May 20, 1987 and May 14, 2020 by which the judicial officers in the State were instructed not to use court premises for religious functions and courts and judges were asked to avoid organising religious functions.

“The High Court having considered the present scenario, viewed it very seriously and reiterates the earlier circular instructions issued in 1987 and 2018 directing all the Unit Heads in the State to see that no religious functions and religious ceremonies and functions organised by the courts, are organized in court premises by the advocates or the bar associations and others in future,” the circular said.
