The CJI was delivering a speech at the inaugural session of American Bar Association (ABA) International Law Section: ABA India Conference 2023 on the theme Law in the Age of Glocalisation: Convergence of India & the West.
During his address, he discussed how judges are trolled by anyone who did not agree with them, and that people are also low on tolerance as they are not willing to accept views contrary to theirs.
“People are low on tolerance because they are not willing to accept your views. Humanity has also retreated within… Some of this is product of technology itself. Truth has become a victim of false news,” he said.
He added that when the Constitution of India was drafted, we did not know how human society would evolve.
“We did not have social media. We (judges) know that we are trolled by anyone who does not agree with us,” he said.
