Ukraine-Russia crisis: Supreme Court seeks assistance of Attorney General KK Venugopal on plea to evacuate Indians

The matter was mentioned before Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana by Senior Counsel AM Dar.

“This is a fresh plea regarding evacuation of Indians in Ukraine border (Romania). Most are girls,” the lawyer said.

“I read somewhere that it is being asked what is CJI doing? Can we give a direction to stop the war,” CJI Ramana demanded.

“They are in freezing temperature. There are students, most are girls, They are there for 6 days,” the counsel persisted.

The CJI then asked the lawyer to wait, stating that the Bench will seek assistance of Attorney General KK Venugopal.

“We have all the sympathies. We will ask the Attorney General to assist us. You wait, we will take it up,” the CJI said.
