156 new cases push Sikkim’s COVID-19 tally to 37,972

Gangtok, Jan 29 (PTI) Sikkim’s COVID-19 tally rose to 37,972 on Saturday as 156 people tested positive for the infection, nine less than the previous day, a health bulletin said.

The Himalayan state’s death toll remained unchanged at 428 as no fresh fatality was recorded in the last 24 hours.

East Sikkim reported the highest number of new cases at 87, followed by 45 in West Sikkim, 19 in South Sikkim and five in North Sikkim.

Sikkim now has 1,315 active cases, while 35,575 people have recovered from the disease and 654 patients have migrated to other states to date.

The recovery rate among the coronavirus patients in the state stood at 96.1 per cent.

The state has tested 3,07,558 samples for COVID-19 so far, it said, adding that the positivity rate stood at 13.5 per cent. PTI KDK SBN ACD ACD
