Jalandhar & Moga: Election campaigning in Punjab is currently in full swing. Though leaders are currently not allowed to hold rallies, door-to-door campaigning, small public meetings, and strategising are currently keeping politicians on their toes.
ThePrint followed the election campaigns of hockey legends Pargat Singh of the Congress and Surinder Singh Sodhi of the Aam Aadmi Party who have locked horns for the Jalandhar Cantonment Assembly constituency.
Singh is an incumbent cabinet minister who held three key portfolios in the government — sports, education, and NRI affairs. At Dhani village, Singh visited a gurdwara to offer prayers and attended a local weightlifting competition.
Sodhi, conducting door-to-door campaigning in the main market, was greeted by hockey fans, old teammates and classmates.
In Moga, ThePrint caught up with Congress candidate Malvika Sood, campaigning with her brother, actor Sonu Sood. The actor was a crowd-puller with many eager to click pictures with him.
In Jalandhar, big cutouts of Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi were put up ahead of a virtual rally. Congress supporters lined up to get a glimpse of Singh. However, many were disappointed as he didn’t stop his motorcade to greet them.
