Jammu revenue official jailed for one year in corruption case

Jammu, Apr 16 (PTI) An anti-corruption court here sentenced a revenue official to one-year imprisonment with a fine for taking bribe, an official said on Sunday.

The Special Judge Anti Corruption, Jammu, handed over the sentence to Patwari Mohd Sharif who was caught red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 for mutation of land in 2016, a spokesperson for the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) said.

The accused Patwari of Halqa Surinsar has already received Rs 9,000 from the complainant and was further demanding Rs 4,000, he said.

The spokesperson said the court on Saturday convicted the accused Patwari to one year of simple imprisonment for committing offences Under section 4-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act and one-year simple imprisonment for offence under section 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) of the said Act with a fine of Rs 10,000 in each offence.

The court said both the sentences will run concurrently, according to the official. PTI TAS CK
