MP: Boy kills father over fear of being reprimanded about studies

Guna, Apr 6 (PTI) A 15-year-old boy allegedly axed his father to death over fear that he would be reprimanded if he failed his Class 10 exams in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, police said on Wednesday.

The police have detained the boy, who also tried to frame a neighbour who was not in good terms with the family, an official said.

The victim was axed to death while he was asleep on the intervening night of April 2 and 3, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajiv Mishra said.

The victim’s son in his complaint had claimed that he had seen his neighbour and an accomplice fleeing from the spot after the incident, he said.

Following the complaint, the neighbour was arrested and interrogated. The matter seemed amiss during the forensic investigation, the official said.

During the probe, the police interrogated the boy, who broke down and confessed to killing his father, he said.

The boy claimed that his father would scold him for not studying and had threatened to throw him out of the house if he failed the Class 10 exams, the SP said.

The boy he had not studied for the final exams and was scared of failing, he said.
