Raj govt sets up panel to fix lacunae of exam process

Jaipur, Jan 30 (PTI) The Rajasthan government on Sunday set up a high-level committee to examine the lacune in the various examination processes, including those for the competitive examination for the government jobs and determine a roadmap to rectify them.

The committee headed by retired judge Vijay Kumar Vyas of the Rajasthan High Court was set up by the Ashok Gehlot government a day after the sacking of Ajmer-based Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education’s Chairman D P Jaroli and the suspension of the Board’s secretary Arvind Kumar Sengwa and two others.

The punitive measures were taken after their alleged involvements in question paper leaks during the teachers’ recruitment exam (REET) in September surfaced.

The panel headed by Justice Vyas will also have retired IPS officer and RPSC’s former Chairman Mahendra Kumawat as its member while the Principal Secretary of Personnel Department will be its member-secretary.

This committee will examine various issues related to the examination process and give its report within 45 days, a government statement said.

The decision to constitute the committee was taken in a meeting held by Chief Minister Gehlot on Friday night. The orders to sack Jaroli and suspend Sengwa and two other officials were issued after the same meeting.

The committee will study the process of creating question banks for various examinations, setting question papers, ensuring the highest level of security and confidentiality in their printing and transportation to examination headquarters, collection centres and examination centres after their printing and give its recommendation on them.

Along with this, the committee will also give suggestions on creating the requisite infrastructure for setting up examination centres and fixing parameters and measures for the security and confidentiality of the centres during the exam.

The committee will also give suggestions on transparency in the allotment of examination centres, determination of the role and responsibilities of the district coordinators, examination centre superintendents, supervisors and examination invigilators and disciplinary action to be taken in case of any lapse, the statement said.
