New Delhi: Telangana Police arrested suspended BJP leader T. Raja Singh from his Hyderabad residence on Thursday – the second time in two days – for his alleged remarks against Prophet Muhammad.
Massive protests broke out in Hyderabad ever since the MLA released a video late Monday criticising stand-up comedian Munavar Faruqui, during which he made disparaging comments against the Muslim community and the Prophet.
Singh was arrested on Tuesday, but let off hours later on bail. The BJP’s disciplinary committee suspended him the same day, saying his “views were contradictory to the party’s position on various matters”.
The party also asked him to show cause by 2 September on why he should not be expelled.
In a 10-minute video uploaded late Monday by Singh’s team on YouTube, the politician was heard mocking the humorist, calling his art “third-class comedy” and accusing him of targeting Hindu gods Rama and Sita.
