Mapping Cow Health, Brainwired Valued At Rs 5 Crore In A Bridge Round

His angel investor initiative is a platform of more than 650 such investors across India. The company has recently launched its chapters in Sydney, Dubai and London.

Holy cow! Agritech start-up Brainwired, which aims to revolutionise dairy farming, has raised an undisclosed amount in its bridge funding round from Agility Venture Partners. Top angel investors Dhianu Das and Nandi Mehta, Mumbai Angels and Agility Venture Partners participated in this valuation round. They valued the tech start-up at Rs 5 crore!

Brainwired has recently won the Agri India Hackathon conducted by ICAR, Pusa Krishi and Govt. of India. The start-up, which is presently raising its bridge round, closed its pre-seed round at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic last year (May 2020). This Kochi-based start-up hopes to track the health of dairy cattle through IoT and ML algorithms.

“We’re thrilled at the amount of investor attention we’ve received for Brainwired”, said Sreeshankar S Nair, Founder & CEO for Brainwired. “We hope to solve cattle concerns across India with our innovative solution”.

Brainwired, an agritech initiative supported by the angel investor platform Agility Venture Partners, connect two disparate threads – technology and dairy farming. The company does this with WeSTOCK, a livestock health monitoring and tracking system. This system uses an IoT ear tag and an ML algorithm to identify sick and in-heat livestock and alert farmers accordingly.

Founded in February 2018, Brainwired stems from the agricultural roots of its founders Sreeshankar S Nair and Romeo P Jerard. The duo grew up watching their grandparents as dairy farmers and sought tech solutions to typical livestock management troubles. Later, they realised the value of this solution and chose to develop it for the agricultural sector’s greater good.

“Having a good product isn’t enough unless it solves a core problem for your customers. At Brainwired, we excel in understanding our customers, and this helps us shape our solution to their needs,” added Sreeshankar.

“We hold high hopes from Brainwired, which has garnered a lot of acclaim since its inception. The start-up won at the ASSOCHAM start-up launchpad (Kochi) and the Maharashtra start-up week. It was at the Silicon Valley-based Y Combinator SS’19 too. We believe it can achieve an international foothold with its approach to dairy and livestock farming”, said Prashant Narang, co-founder of Agility Venture Partners, who led the seed round for this start-up.
